The smart grid is all about technology and will therefore require plenty of investment. The introduction of this technology also requires discussion to ensure that consumers who will be at the receiving end understand its implementation. Also companies like Pacific Crest Transformers that are engaged in energy efficient technology need to play a role.http://www.pacificcresttrans.com/home.html

Will, don't you just love all those mobile wireless carrier television ads all claiming to have the world's fastest 4G networks? A recent Nielsen study found that while 83% of consumers claimed to be aware of 4G, 49% could not tell you what it was.

I made a comment about this post that was courteous and professional. I disagreed with you but that doesn't seem a reason to censor me. Why was it removed??

While there's been no definitive link established between EMR and cancer, I can't help but laugh at the irony of shielding oneself from potential increased exposure by using a Livestrong bracelet! What a great way to boost reception. I'm a cancer survivor and a member of Livestrong.org -- buy those bracelets! And if you're an antenna engineer, apply to Apple, would you??!

Hi John,

Samra and Burgess had special, limited-time permits from the FCC for their two outings at Burning Man; this is still an experimental system and not licensed yet for open use in the States. You'll find an FAQ re. experimental permits on the FCC's site at http://www.fcc.gov/oet/faqs/elbfaqs.html.

The stations are highly portable, but realize they only support GSM, which is of limited usefulness in the U.S. You can learn more and find links from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OpenBTS. Also you can email David Burgess at dburgess@kestrelsp.com. Hope this helps.
